The Coalition has apparently turned on the no smoking sign in Gears 5, as it has been revealed that all references to tobacco will be scrubbed from the upcoming shooter.
Variety reports that Gears 5 developer The Coalition has consciously made the decision to remove smoking references from the shooter after discussing it with the anti-tobacco organization, Truth Initiative.
Truth originally reached out to Turner regarding concerns about the depiction of smoking in Gears 5. Turner is partnered with the esports organization ELeague, which also happens to have the broadcasting rights to the Gears 5 esports tournament.
