If you still want more Nier in your life, Square Enix and Applibot have announced the pre-registration for the mobile spinoff NieR Re[in]carnation is open today for North America and Europe.
Nier Reincarnation is a whole new mobile RPG set in the Nier universe directed by Yoko Taro and Daichi Matsukawa. Nier Reincarnation stars a Girl in White who wakes up in a realm called the Cage. This girl is aided by a ghost named Mama and two venture into this world trying to regain the girl’s memories.
Check out the trailer below.
Core members of the Nier development team including Taro, producer Yosuke Saito, and composer Keiichi Okabe are all involved in this fairly robust-looking mobile game. Given Taro’s involvement in Reincarnation’s development, you can expect sad, existential stories galore.
Pre-registration is available on both the iOS App Store and Google Play Store. Those who pre-register through Android could potentially be chosen to participate in an upcoming closed beta.
Square Enix and Applibot are also hosting a sign-up promotion where all players will receive 3,000 gems (this is a mobile game after all) if 300,000 people pre-register. These gems can be used on summons, which indicates there will be gacha mechanics in Nier Reincarnation.
There’s a lot of Nier to go around these days. Following the success of Nier: Automata, Square Enix recently released Nier Replicant ver. 1.22474487139, a remake of the original Nier from 2010.
Nier games are lauded for their deep storytelling and dark worldbuilding and Nier Reincarnation looks to continue that tradition. Be sure to check out our Nier Replicant review here or our Nier Automata review here.
