Final Fantasy 16 has been announced for PlayStation 5.

Revealed at September’s PS5 event, a cinematic trailer revealed the next Final Fantasy game, FF 16. Set in what looks like a medieval fantasy setting, hallmarks of the Final Fantasy series like famous summons and crystals were revealed.

The series has taken an unusual route recently, with Final Fantasy 14 going strong well after the release of the excellent Final Fantasy XV, and the release of the first episode of Final Fantasy 7 Remake breaking franchise records.

In fact, FF 16 director Naoki Yoshida was revealed to be the producer on Final Fantasy 16. The next big FF 16 reveal event is set for 2021.

Final Fantasy 16 is a PlayStation console exclusive, but will also be released on PC. According to another separate trailer with the same footage FF 16 appears to be a timed console exclusive. For more from the PS5 event, check out our updating PS5 reveal blog.
